Italian Architecture

This knit project was focused on a trip to Northern Italy in 2023. I was inspired by the colours, patterns, textures and compositions of the incredible architecture found here. Using different yarn fibres, embellishments and knit/ crochet processes, I created this cohesive final collection of samples. 

I used a mix of crochet, fairisle machine knit and stoll knitting, along with hand embroidering to create these samples.

When making these pieces, I mainly focused on using embellishments and design details to create edgings to the fabric, as I knew I was going to visualise the samples as sleeves -
